Il Clima   Climate
Il Giappone è caratterizzato da condizioni climatiche particolari: l'arcipelago è, in generale, sotto l'influenza di venti monsonici di sud-ovest a cui si sovrappone quella dei venti provenienti dal Pacifico. Di conseguenza, mentre le regioni meridionali hanno un clima tendenzialmente subtropicale, con estati calde e piovose (spesso oltre 2000 mm annui), le regioni centro settentrionali hanno un clima più spiccatamente oceanico (con precipitazioni a carattere più costante e comprese tra i 1000 e i 1500 mm annui); gli inverni non sono mai eccessivamente freddi, salvo che nella settentrionale isola di Hokkaido dove il clima tende ad acquisire caratteri più decisamente continentali, con inverni particolarmente rigidi ed estati fresche e piovose. In inverno, da dicembre a febbraio, l'aria fredda che proviene dalla Siberia scontrandosi con quella umida che giunge dal Pacifico, determina nevicate nella parte occidentale del Giappone. In estate, da giugno ad agosto, le masse d'aria calda e umida che arriva dal Pacifico producono temperature elevate, con un forte tasso di umidità; al concludersi del periodo estivo, la stagione dei monsoni determina grandi piogge e venti, soprattutto nelle zone costiere.   Japan has particular climatic conditions: the archipelago is influenced by the Monsoons from South-West and by winds blowing from the Pacific. As a consequence, as the southern regions have a sub-tropical climate with hot and rainy summers (sometimes more than 2000mm per year), the central and northern regions have an Oceanic climate (with constant precipitations included in 1000mm and 1500mm per year); winters are not very cold, except for the northern island of Hokkaido where the climate tends to be more continental with particularly rigid winters and cool and rainy summers. In winter, from December to February, the cold air coming from Siberia meets the humid one coming from the Pacific determining snowfalls in the western part of Japan. In summer, from June to August, the cold and hot air masses coming from the Pacific bring very high temperatures with high humidity;summer ending, the Monsoons' season determines heavy rains and winds, above all on the coast.
