Il Clima   Climate
La posizione geografica della Francia, per buona parte sottoposta al flusso dei venti occidentali provenienti dall'Atlantico, ne determina il carattere prevalentemente oceanico del clima, caratterizzato da precipitazioni non eccessive (600 mm-1200 mm annui) ma distribuite in quasi tutti i mesi dell'anno, almeno nelle regioni del bassopiano settentrionale e occidentale. Più scarse esse si fanno invece nelle regioni interne del bacino parigino, della Lorena (400- 1000 mm annui) dove cadono prevalentemente in estate , ma anche nelle stagioni intermedie; lo stesso dicasi per il corridoio rodaniano, mentre le regioni sud- orientali (il Midi) e la Corsica sono caratterizzate da un clima essenzialmente mediterraneo, con precipitazioni poco abbondanti (meno di 500 mm annui) e prevalentemente invernali. Condizioni di clima continentale vero e proprio si riscontrano nel Massiccio Centrale dove le escursioni termiche rispetto alle altre regioni tendono ad accentuarsi. Sulle Alpi e sui Pirenei, infine, il clima è fortemente condizionato dall'altitudine, con la presenza di un manto nevoso permanente e di numerosi ghiacciai, alcuni dei quali di notevole estensione come quelli del gruppo del monte Bianco. Per quanto riguarda le temperature, esse sono poco elevate nella zona atlantica (media annua a Brest è di 13° C) e scendono ancora nell'interno, dove le escursioni termiche diventano più sensibili. La temperatura media annua parigina è di 11-13 °C, ma scende sotto lo zero in inverno e sale anche fino a 35° C in estate. Nelle regioni mediterranee le temperature medie sono più alte per cui le estati sono calde e gli inverni dolci.   The geographical position of France , dominated for most part by the occidental winds coming from the Atlantic Sea, influences its oceanic climate characterised by not abundant precipitations (600mm-1200mm per year), but equally distributed in every part of the country as it always happens in the northern and western tableland areas.. They get poor in the Parisian inland, in the Lorena, where precipitations are mainly concentrated in summer. The same can be said for the Rhodes' areas, while the south-east regions (the Midi) and the Corsica are characterised by a mediterrenean climate, with few and essentially winterly precipitations less than 500mm per year).The true continental climate is present on the Central Massif where temperature's excursions are more accentuated than in other part of the country. On the Alpes and on the Pyrenees , finally, the climate is strongly influenced by the altitude with a permanent snowy mantle and several glaciers, whose extension is sometimes very high as the ones of the Mount Blanc. Temperatures are instead not very high on the Atlantic area (Brest's mean temperature is 13°C) and they decrease in the inland , where temperature's excursions get more evident. The yearly mean temperature in Paris is about 11°-13°C , but it decreases to 0°C in winter and raise up to 35°C in summer. In the Mediterrenean areas the mean temperatures are higher so summer are hot and winter mild.
