Il clima di tipo tropicale monsonico è caratterizzato da temperature particolarmente elevate durante tutto l'anno, con precipitazioni generalmente superiori ai 1000 mm annui (sulle catene orientali si superano anche i 4000 mm) e concentrate nel periodo maggio- ottobre (la stagione secca, infatti, va da novembre ad aprile). Nel Mekong il clima raggiunge le temperature massime a marzo ed aprile (più di 35 °C) e le minime a dicembre- gennaio (15 °C), mentre appare più mitigato sugli altopiani centro-settentrionali (Piana delle Giare).

The climate is tropical and monsoonic with particularly elevated temperatures all year round, with rainfalls generally beyond 1000mm per year ( on the oriental mountainous chains they exceed 4000mm per year) and they are mostly concentrated in the May-October period ( the dry period, in fact, goes from November to April). In Mekong the climate reaches maxima temperatures in March and April ( more than 35°C) and the minima is in December and January, the climate gets warmer on the north central tablelands ( Giare's Plain).
