Il Clima   Climate
La Colombia ha climi assai diversi a causa della varietà dell'aspetto fisico del suo territorio (monti altissimi, grandi valli chiuse tra le catene montuose, estese pianure). In linea di massima si può dire che il territorio colombiano comprende tre zone climatiche ben distinte: le "tierras calientes" (calde), le "tierras templadas" (temperate) e le "tierras frias" (fredde). La zona calda comprende le pianure e le regioni fino a 100 m di altitudine , mentre con l'aumentare dell'altezza la temperatura diminuisce: così si ha la zona temperata fino ai 2500 m e quella fredda oltre quest'altitudine. Queste diversità climatiche spiegano perché la maggior parte della popolazione viva in città a grande altezza: là fa meno caldo e quindi si vive meglio; le temperature elevate, infatti, sono comprese tra i 27 °C e i 28 °C sulla costa, fra i 13 °C e i 14 °C a Bogotà. Infine, la piovosità varia da quantità elevatissime sulla costa pacifica (oltre 7000 mm di precipitazioni medie annue) e nell'oriente amazzonico a quantità minori per cui ci sono settori relativamente secchi nelle zone centro-meridionali e nord-orientali (meno di 1000 mm).   This country has very different climates because of the complex geological aspect of its territory (very high mountains, wide closed valleys among mountain chains, very extended planes).
We can generally say that the Columbian territory includes three different climatic zones: the "tierras calientes" (i.e.hot areas) the "tierras templa" (i.e.warm areas), the "tierras frias" (i.e. cold areas) The hot areas include planes and region up to 100m of altitude, while with the increasing altitude, temperatures decrease: as a consequence we have the warm areas up to 2500 m and the cold ones beyond that altitude. These climatic differences explain why most of its inhabitants live in very high towns: there it's less hot so life is better; very high temperatures are in fact included between 27° and 28°C on the coast and between 13° and 14° in Bogota. The rain is really abundant on the Pacific coast (beyond 7000 mm of rain falls per year)while it's really few in East Amazonia: that's why there are really arid areas in some southern, central and north-eastern zones (less than 100mm of annual rainfall).
