Il clima è assai vario. Caldo-umido nelle regioni costiere orientali sottoposte all'influsso monsonico, dunque molto piovose (oltre 4000 mm annui di pioggia) e investite in modo frequente dai cicloni. Temperato con discreta piovosità sull'altopiano centrale. Subdesertico con scarse precipitazioni nelle regioni meridionali e sud- occidentali. Temperature costantemente elevate e precipitazioni modeste si hanno infine nelle regione occidentale.

This island shows a very varied climate. It is hot and humid in the oriental and coastal regions due to the monsoons' influence that make these regions very rainy (rainfalls are beyond 4000mm per year) and and subdued to cyclones. The climate is mild with normal rainfalls on the central tableland. It's sub-desertic with few rainfalls in the south-west and southern regions. Temperatures constantly elevated and modest precipitations are typical of the occidental
region.
