Il Clima   Climate
Data la notevole estensione del Cile (si allunga da nord a sud per 4.300 km), il clima è assai vario. Le temperature diminuiscono da nord verso sud e sui rilievi, infatti mentre a nord il Cile è un paese tropicale e aridissimo, a sud è quasi polare quando si frantuma nella gelida Terra del Fuoco. Le piogge scendono dagli oltre 5000 mm sulle coste di Valdivia a meno di 50 mm a nord: nella zona settentrionale (soprattutto tra Antofagasta e Tocopilla) le Ande impediscono alle nubi provenienti dall'interno del continente di portarsi sulla costa, perciò qui si stende una vasta zona aridissima, desertica, il grande deserto di Atacama; una delle zone terrestri in cui piove meno è attorno ad Arica, ai confini col Perù, in cui talvolta passano tre o quattro anni senza che dal cielo scenda una sola goccia.   Due to its remarkable extension, Cile (a huge nation extended from North to South for about 4300 Km) presents a wide range of climates. Temperatures decrease from North to South and on the mountain slopes: the north of the country has a tropical and droughty climate while the south has a quite polar climate, emblematically represented by the gelid Fire Land .
Rain falls from over 5000 mm on the Valdeira coast and less than 50 mm in the north: in the northern areas - in particular between Antofangasta and Tocopilla- the Andes avoid the clouds to arrive, from the inside of the continen,t to the coast and this is the reason why here there's a wide desert and arid area , i.e. the great desert of Alacama. One of the less rainy area of the country is the one around Arica, at Peru limits, where it cannot rain for years.
